Risk Based Inspection (RBI) :

Risk assessment of assets - in terms of safety, environment and business impact – is nowadays a key issue in business optimisation.
Risk Based Inspection (R.B.I) and Reliability Centered Maintenance (R.C.M.) are both methodologies to prioritise the inspection and maintenance efforts. They have been developed to allow companies to better understand the benefits which can be achieved from focussed maintenance and inspection planning. R.B.I. and R.C.M. are applicable to refineries, onshore (petro-) chemical plants, pipelines and offshore installations.

Significant cost saving opportunities can be observed by avoiding major losses and preventing unanticipated shutdowns, while at the same time extending intervals between planned shutdowns. DNV can provide tailormade training sessions and steer the implementation process within your organisation into the right direction.

Spare parts management :

The right spare parts at the right place at minimal cost

Spare parts management (SPM) is critical in realizing a cost-efficient (maintenance) organization. Since no one can predict the exact moment of equipment failure, the risk of losing productivity due to a breakdown must be assessed and addressed. Some basic questions for evaluating spare parts management are:

- What is the availability target for production and what does this mean for the availability of the installation?

- Which parts are most critical?

- What is the delivery time for spare parts?

- What are the costs for keeping spare parts in stock?

- What are the expected costs when a needed spare part is unavailable?

DNV’s SPM service package is about finding the optimum between two extremes: keeping no spart parts at all or have all spare parts available. Our approach starts with a comprehensive assessment of the spare parts management processes, including the interfaces with the maintenance, purchasing and IT organization. A cost and benefit analysis will then help identifying the most relevant areas of improvement, within the context of the targeted installation availability.
