Efficient maintenance management

Summary
DNV Maritime Solutions has worked with leading shipping companies helping them
improving the maintenance management both on board and on shore. According to our
experience the typical ship owner has a highly reactive approach with respect to managing
fleet maintenance and has an unmanageable high reporting volume.

We have a structured approach which can:
• Reduce the amount of maintenance jobs per year by up to 40 – 60 %
• Reduce the repair and maintenance costs by up to 15–25 %
• Enable the ship owners to improve and achieve consistent fleet quality We focus on identifying high impact
improvement opportunities prior to developing solutions.

Key elements
In particular the participant will:
• Get an understanding of how to establish a consistent maintenance scheme.
• Understand how an efficient maintenance process is developed including integration of a
continuous improvement processes.
• Be familiar with how to utilise a risk based approach to define a cost efficient maintenance plan.
• Be familiar with rules and regulation (as ISM & TMSA), governing the maintenance process
• Understand how risk based maintenance and CBM can become part of the onshore and
onboard work process.
• Understand critical success factors (during implementation, in operation)

Objective
The course will give you insight in mastery of maintenance management and what it takes to
be a top performer. The first part of the course will focus on how to establish a link between
company ambitions goals, vision, and values to a maintenance strategy supported by maintenance
processes. Based on the maintenance process the participants will gain understanding of how to
apply a risk based approach to define company maintenance plans. Efficient utilisation of
condition based maintenance will also be covered.
