In March, DNV Software delivered an on-site course, named “Concept based FE modeling and analysis jacket and topside design”, to SMOE in Singapore, 15 days before closing the deal for the Sesam software purchase, reconfirming DNV's leading position in the offshore engineering software technology market. DNV introduced its first Sesam software more than 40 years ago and has been the industry's technology pioneer since then.
SMOE, Sembawang Marine and Offshore Engineering Dept, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Marine Limited, has decided to purchase DNV’s Sesam software to further strengthen its technology leadership in the offshore industry.
As an industry leader, SMOE serves worldwide oil and gas clients by providing services in engineering, procurement, construction, transportation, installation and commissioning with major business in offshore platforms and FPSOs. In order to ensure that each project undertaken is executed to the SMOE commitment of Safety, Quality and Timely Delivery, more powerful and efficient software tools are needed, where Sesam fits in. Leon Li Liang, SMOE engineering manager, says: “Sesam is a famous and sophisticated software. After the training course we have better understanding of this tool and we hope to better utilize it in our future projects.” And Lim Poh Seng, SMOE structure engineer, adds: “DNV has a good global support team, and we look forward to cooperating with DNV in the future.”
