On 15th and 16th of June the LNG Value Chain 2011 conference was held in Rotterdam. DNV attended this event and contributed by giving an interesting presentation.

The two day event gave opportunity to several organizations and persons to share new insights and ideas regarding the LNG value chain. As such the event brought together senior technical, business development, trading and strategic planning executives and market experts. DNV’s competences and experiences appear to be very relevant from a number of these perspectives, since DNV is heavily involved in numerous current LNG project developments as well as in strategic research. LNG is within DNV’s strategic plans defined as one the key areas to further development state-of-the-art competence in order to contribute to the market needs.
A variety of lectures were organized during the two days, organized around the themes ‘world LNG markets’ and ‘LNG shipping operations: using LNG as fuel’. DNV’s LNG segment director Lars Petter Blikom gave a presentation called ‘Uncertainty in the Future of Marine Propulsion’. This lecture gave a good overview of current practices and thoughts around the subject of LNG as fuel, where uncertainly one of the market parameters currently at hand is.
Interactive discussions and workshops contributed to further developments and insights around current hot topics in the LNG value chain. It’s DNV’s intention to continue to contribute to todays and tomorrow’s LNG project developments and research initiatives. Joint Industry Projects have shown to be a strong vehicle to share current knowledge and uncertainty with industry partners and governmental bodies, and further develop the next step in LNG value chain thinking.
