Port State Control (PSC) is the inspection of foreign ships by Port States to ensure compliance with applicable requirements on maritime safety, pollution prevention, safety management, manning and working/living conditions onboard. In other words, a system of harmonised inspection procedures designed to target sub-standards ships with the main objective being their eventual elimination.
